Hallo-allo-ween-ween

(The title is supposed to be sung kinda like Rihanna via Umbrella ella-ella-eh-eh)

I am going a little backwards, but I was sorta excited to do the whole voting thing so I jumped the gun and posted that first.
I was 2 things for Halloween this year (haha to those who were only 1!) Our ward had a Halloween party at our stake president's airplane hanger at the airport. We ate chili in a bag of Fritos (I was kinda confused as well), line danced, and sang/but mainly watched others sing karaoke. I was a doll for that party. With really thick eyelashes. And gross hair. It was fun.

Myself

My roommates

The Thursday before Halloween, the institute had a trunk-or-treat party. It was kinda cold and I had to work kinda late so I didn't really want to get all dressed up. So I put on my cheapest costume ever (the one where I borrowed everything I didn't have) and went as a cowgirl. It was fun. There were trash can fires, donuts and hot chocolate, and live music by Corbin Allred (yup, the Saints and Soldiers guys really does go to my school) I would so a picture so I wouldn't have to explain everything, but Sam's camera freaked out and erased all her pictures. Since Sam's camera is the source of many of my pictures, I am currently picture-less.

On Halloween, my awesome roommate Sydni made hot wings and rootbeer, Brittany made some chocolate popcorn, Heather made some chips and dip, my roommate last year Natalie supplied us with some shrimp she left in our freezer last year (ya and I so got to keep it, along with all the other food she and the other one left. thanks), and I made some truely delish subs with some help from Gandolfo's. It was a feast that could probably feed a small country somewhere. We invited some people over and watched some movies and one thing led to another and we somehow had the 2 big bowls of popcorn all over the floor. Also, in the middle of all of this, we had a couple of trick-or-treaters. We gave them Little Debbie Snacks...just cause we're cool like that.

Sam and I. The cowgirl and the gross doctor with $1 fake blood all over her.

I apparently was trying to squeeze her head off.

The popcorn. My roommates wrapped me up in tape and rolled me across the floor. It only squished the popcorn more.

The end.
P.S. notice the lack of makeup on my face. Guess where ALL of my makeup is? In Provo in Jake's room. I sure hope he's not having too much fun with it. That would be gross.

Up to the Date

I realized that after having my blog for roughly 31/2 to 4 years now and only posting 100 times is super lame.

Here's a little update on my awesome life.

I just got back from the Harvest Holiday/Fall break/The Hunt. (my roommate went hunting...awesome?) I went to Zion's with my family (see full report here) and it was super pretty. After that, I basically just hung out in P P P R O O O O V O P-R-O-O-O-V-O PROVO! It was a lot of fun being with my family and laughing at my brothers, sister, and father. I also had my mom there to take super good care of me while I was in my ill and fragile state...semi-ill. It was a very good weekend.

I am at school. (really?) I live in this cool place called Stadium Way and have my own room. I will take pictures of my apartment later. I really like my roommates, we get along really well. We watch stupid movies together and look at boys who live across the way from us *insert fit of giggles...HERE*

I am totally loving my classes. My teachers are pretty awesome. I saw like 2 of them at Zions. Weird. I found out that I will be graduating for reals in 2010 for reals. I can't wait. We are learning all these cool things and I am afraid I will forget all of these cool things I am learning so I need to hurry up and become a cute little teacher (don't ever call me that)

I work at a depressing little daycare. I can't really say too much about it right now because I signed a thing that says I am not aloud to publicly discuss the center in a negative matter or I could be fired...which wouldn't too terrible. I called a dirty Mexican by a girl there. She's a brat. But I can't blame her entirely for being a brat. She's there like everyday. I would be a brat too.

I was going to be an 80's prom queen for Halloween this year but the cheapest poofy 80's dress I could find was $25 and it wasn't even that good. So, I don't know what I will be. I was thinking Twiggy, or a Southern Utah girl with poofy hair and lots of make-up.

Anyway, I that is all. I have to get ready to go to class. I didn't have to tutor today because the class I tutor is on a field trip to the post office. Yay!

p.s. Will someone come and help me make my blog look as cool as yours? Any takers?

Have you seen this movie? Well why not?

This post marks my big 100th (I know, right?) In honor of Jude's big 100, I give you "Hey Jude" from Across the Universe. You should watch this movie. Seriously. Straight up Beatles. Like 2 hours worth. Watch it now!

You Could Win This Bag!

One day my grandpa and I were driving down Center Street past a car dealership. They were giving away a free car. The car was this old, banged up piece of junk and the tires were all flat. There was a sign with deflated balloons on the side of it that read, "YOU COULD THIS CAR!!!" That has been an ongoing joke for a while now.
But seriously, these bags (unlike the car) are pretty sweet. This site is giving away 24 bags-1 every hour-on October 15th to launch their new website. You should go check it out.

Happy Friday!

I saw this on someone's blog so I wanted to try it. You go to Google search and type in your name + needs (example Elisabeth needs) then type in the top 10 things that come up. Some were pretty dumb, but pretty funny. I had to edit a couple due to the nature of google. Here it is.

Elisabeth needs...
1. a coffee on Vimeo
2. a lobotomy!
3. a backbone and a wardrobe consultant.
4. another man in her life (hmmm)
5. to go!
6. to go back to high school (no thank you)
7. to stick to what she knows
8. a new job (amen)
9. to get a life
10. to grow up

K well most things were pretty negative considering the fact I share my first name is Elisabeth Hasselbeck and most don't really like her (does anyone really watch the View anymore? Really?) But I thought some of them were funny.
Anyway, have a good weekend!

You know they call us "Utards" right?

I have lived in Utah for 17 years, and in Utah county for 10. I am pleased to say that I haven't picked up on some of those...let's just call them Utah quirks. I am happy to say that my hair is pretty normal and by normal I mean I don't defy the laws of hair growth by teasing it so much in the back that it sticks up 3 inches above my head then flat iron it stick straight. Cause you know how everyone's head is shaped like a box? None of this going on back there. (Side note, I saw a girl who had hair just like this, but even poofier. Is that even possible? And is poofier even a real word?) I have also never had green jello with carrots. I didn't even know that was a big thing, I just always thought it was a joke until someone told me how good it tasted and how Sister so-and-so always makes it for Enrichment night.

I also have seemed to not pick up on the accent, even though I do slip a few times and forget to pronounce my t's in the middle of some words.
Well today, I was sitting in my class with one of my friends. I asked her if she could hand me something from the other table. It came out something like this:

"Hey, could you git me that over there?"

Yes, I said git. And that's not the first time. In the past week (yes I have been keeping track. What do you do in your spare time?) I have said such words as "thin", "melk", "cren", and "seex" which all roughly translate to "then", "milk", "crayon" and "six" (but I guess that's not the first time I have mispronounced the word "six"...I'll have to tell you about that one later). To reassure myself, I said to myself "well at least you're not using "ar" in the place of "or" (example: "go stand in the carner!").

But I spoke way too soon. After getting my hair cut today, I was telling one of my friends where my stylist was from (what do you and your friends talk about?) I said something like this:
"She said she is from up north too. Like American Fark or something".
That statement alone only led to some teasing and a new thing I probably won't live down for a while...especially since (not "seence") that's where the majority of my jokes come from.

So, I guess I am a Utard after all. Did you know that's what they call us? Yup. All those cool Vegas kids.
But I guess I will keep talking this way.

Just don't ever let me look like this.

Good Gravy! Looks who's back!

Dear blog,
It's been a while, but I'm back. I didn't blog this whole summer because I figured if anyone wanted to know what was going on with my life, they could just come over and ask. But I promised my mom I would be better with the update thing once I got back to school. Now that I am back to school, I have a lot to catch you up on.

April
*I fought with my roommates-for a more detailed story, call me

I think this picture best describes this month:

May
*I graduated!

*Moved home for the summer
*Found a job at a daycare...I basically got paid to play with babies all day
*Sat in a dentist chair for like 3 hours total getting my teeth straight

June
*I turned ahem, 20!
*Hosted my first "break the fast" in my BYU 229th ward...I was apart of every other BYU jokes I make fun of
*Shamelessly voted for So You Think You Can Dance and then watched the dances again later that night on You Tube. I rock.

July
*I participated in the usual 4th of July madness us Houghtons enjoy every year
*I got a nasty little cold, but drank some jello that made my sore throat disappear-again, for more on that story, call me
*Got this in the mail-meaning I PASSED MATH!!!!

*Bought these-can't wait for November!!!

Happy Valentine's Day Love Me

I had a Valentine's tea party in my apartment. There were like 8 or so people there, but for some reason I only got like three pictures out of it...

These are 2 of my roommates. Sam and Natalie.

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Monday!

Tonight being Monday night, my roommates and I received a note from our family home evening group leader telling us that there was FHE tonight. It said,

"Hey! FHE tonight at 7 in the lower lobby of D. We will be having so much fun, you might wet yourself. Hope to see you there!" (that's how we roll were I live)

I was extra excited because we have never received such notice this whole entire year. I have never been to a family home evening because my group has been literally non-existent. So tonight at approximately 7:00, my dear roommate Katherine and I brushed our teeth, put on our jackets, and headed over to the lower lobby in D. We went into the building, sat on the couch and waited for 15 min. Lo and behold,

We were stood up by our FHE group.

My brother would be so proud

Basically the most exciting thing happened to me yesterday.

I played ping pong.

As I was walking out of my institute class yesterday afternoon, I found my old home teachers playing ping pong. They pulled up a couch and I had to place a "hypothetical bet" with "hypothetical money" on a "hypothetical team". I decided to join Team Greg, which if I did actually make a real bet with real money, I would have made some fun cash. Then I had to play the winner. I suck at ping pong. Maybe I should take a few pointers from Jake next time instead of calling him a geek when he asked for a cover for his ping pong paddle for Christmas...and I probably should have watched "Balls of Fury"over Christmas break like my brothers told me to, "Cause you never know Beth". Now I know.

Halloween-the after Thanksgiving edition

Because I am a firm believer of celebrating holidays way after they actually happen, I give you my Halloween post. This year, I carved some pumpkins with my roommates, attempted to make a mariachi dancer-looking skirt which turned out NOTHING like I wanted, went to the SUU's Halloween dance The Howl, went trick-or-treating in the rich neighborhood, and went to some parties.

Pumpkin Carving

This is my super cute roommate Sam. She carves super cute pumpkins

The ending result.
Top to bottom: Amanda's, mine, Sam's

Trick-or-treating

3 of my roommates and I. This was actually taken right before The Howl, but we'll just say it was before we went out trick-or-treating. It took us like an hour to figure out how to make Sam's fake blood, which late got all over the place (sidewalk, grass, volleyball court, don't ask) Katherine was Bond girl that night but on Halloween turned into a pirate. I was Flamenco dancer, but not really. Natalie was a German girl who turned to 80's rocker sensation on Halloween.

Steve: He went to Timpview...need I say more?

She's just kinda crazy. He's just weird.

The trick-or-treating group minus 4
Front: Jeremy, Sam, Natalie, Neal (standing)
Back: Katherine, Brittany, Moi, Adam, Shay

There's that. Stayed tuned in December for Hey Jude's amazing Thanksgiving update!! (not)

A post about a fish

Let's take it from the top.
My old roommate Shanna dated this guy named Tyler back in March-ish. Tyler was cute and all but he was a high school senior who worked at the pet section at Wal-mart, so naturally their relationship didn't last very long. One day in March-ish, Annalie, Brittany, myself and Dustin went to Wal-mart. While Annalie and Brittany were shopping for their food, Dustin and I decided to go and look for Tyler in the pet section...just to be annoying. Well we never saw Tyler (we all think he quit shortly after the break-up) but we did end up buying a blue beta fish. We later named him Topher.

Topher was a good little fish who live on my desk in my dorm room, but I was almost certain that he only had about a month of life left in him mainly because I am not a good fish owner. I was mistaken. He ended up living through countless weekends of not being fed, the bitter coldness where I thought for sure he would freeze in his water, and he even survived Spring break AND Easter weekend with my roommate Carrie (We later called him Super Topher for that).

The end of the semester was approaching and there was no way I was going to take him home with me. I tried to think of different ways I could not bring him home which equals different ways I could kill him off (I know, I AM inhumane). But at this time, he is now Super Topher so he just wouldn't die. Thoughts of Finding Nemo and just flushing him down the toilet came to us, but we just couldn't do it. I told Dustin to take him home with him because he was 1/2 of Topher's owner, but "Elisabeth, I'm going on a mission blah blah blah blah blah What if he makes it through the summer, then who will take care of him? more blah blah blah blah." I then had the ingenious idea to randomly leave him by the big statue of Sharwan Smith in the Sharwan Smith center here at school with a note that said "Needs a good home". Well, move out day came and it was too late to just strand him in a crowed room. So I just ended up giving him to my RA who was getting married in June.

Fast forward September this year...
I am walking down the halls in, you guessed it, the Sharwan Smith center. Suddenly I am stopped by the old Relief Society President Catelyn Holladay telling me that she still has my fish Lindsey told her to watch while she was on her honeymoon (ooh la la?)
Well to make a long story somewhat shorter, Topher is back!!! His bowl has been upgraded and he now has a cute little seashell to play with.
And that is the story of my fish Topher, the fish who lived.

*My roommate Bree helped me figure out a way to upload pictures onto my computer without my cord...which is basically A to the MA to the ZING Be prepared for my next few posts to be very picture heavy-if you know what I mean*

90

So, sorry about the lack of blogs up to this point. I know this is the typical excuse, but I really have been way too busy. I am at school now (woot!) and it basically is the same (woot squared).

I am back in good ol' Manzinita with 4 new roommates. My actually roommate, Sam is a sweetie who plays volleyball all day everyday. She's fun. My roommates and I haven't done anything too crazy yet, although they did go and egg someone's house without me because I was being responsible and doing homework...

SUU lost their first home football game, I am hooked to The Office, I've seen Becoming Jane so many times I'm almost to the point of quoting it word for word, I cut my hair and it's short enough that I can't put it back in a ponytail without 40 bobby pins and 2 1/2 lbs of hairspray, I've been rudely awaken by a prank call, I got called as a Sunday School teacher, my apartment balcony faces the volleyball court so I can sometimes hear people playing into the wee hours of the morning, and my new favorite number is 90.

That's about all right now. Next weekend I am going to see the Goo Goo Dolls in concert here at SUU!

I will be out for the weekend (previous engagments) so I will write about all my fun this weekend and post some pictures on Monday...if you're lucky

I knew my bad attitude would come back and bite me...

...and now I have to teach Sunday School tomorrow!

I heart Edward...well sorta

Due to the suggesstion of my Auntie Cristina and my Auntie Mary, I decided to ride the new wave of Young Adult Fiction. The book is called Twilight and it wasn't too bad. I'm not fantasy's #1 fan, but this wasn't too weirdo fantasy like, so I actually enjoyed it. It kind of reminded me of an LDS romance, but I like those too so it went pretty well.

From much demand, I will now give you a quick update of my last days in Cedar City.

These are my lovely roommates minus one (from left to right: Annalie, Brittany, Carrie, moi)

This is the minus one. She hurried home the day we checked out so she could make it home in time to watch Oprah...true story.

This is Annalie and I in our bathroom. My hair is short now...a lot shorter.

These are two of my 6 crazy neighbors Kylie and Janet. The word crazy is pretty much the greatest understatment of the century.

Yes, this is my room. I took this picture just moments before I threw all of it into some boxes. I don't think my mummy was too pleased.

Because my roommates and I didn't believe in traditional dorm decor, we made a chandelier out of those little plastic cups they use at weddings and little beads. We hung the streamers up in January in honor of Brittany's birthday and left them up until May. The swag curtain in the background is the result of a late night visit to Wal-Mart.

This is the oh-so-gorgeous amazon mural in my lobby. The other girls buildings where pink and cute and all. Building C got the amazon. Building C also got a big broken window that had to be boarded up. Yeah, we rock.

This is our General Conference fort complete with our ginger ale for shots.

This is the food we conned from the people in the big houses behind Wal-mart. For the complete story, read here.

We were on the top floor in my building, so we had a great balcony with an excellent view of the parking lot. When things got slow, I threw things over the edge such as a cantaloupe head, Mountain Dew, cookies, modge-podged easter eggs, GI Jane, ect. This is leftover flour. It kind of looks like a bird.
Stay tuned: All in a days work at the MTC
