Halloween-the after Thanksgiving edition

Because I am a firm believer of celebrating holidays way after they actually happen, I give you my Halloween post. This year, I carved some pumpkins with my roommates, attempted to make a mariachi dancer-looking skirt which turned out NOTHING like I wanted, went to the SUU's Halloween dance The Howl, went trick-or-treating in the rich neighborhood, and went to some parties.

Pumpkin Carving

This is my super cute roommate Sam. She carves super cute pumpkins

The ending result.
Top to bottom: Amanda's, mine, Sam's

Trick-or-treating

3 of my roommates and I. This was actually taken right before The Howl, but we'll just say it was before we went out trick-or-treating. It took us like an hour to figure out how to make Sam's fake blood, which late got all over the place (sidewalk, grass, volleyball court, don't ask) Katherine was Bond girl that night but on Halloween turned into a pirate. I was Flamenco dancer, but not really. Natalie was a German girl who turned to 80's rocker sensation on Halloween.

Steve: He went to Timpview...need I say more?

She's just kinda crazy. He's just weird.

The trick-or-treating group minus 4
Front: Jeremy, Sam, Natalie, Neal (standing)
Back: Katherine, Brittany, Moi, Adam, Shay

There's that. Stayed tuned in December for Hey Jude's amazing Thanksgiving update!! (not)

A post about a fish

Let's take it from the top.
My old roommate Shanna dated this guy named Tyler back in March-ish. Tyler was cute and all but he was a high school senior who worked at the pet section at Wal-mart, so naturally their relationship didn't last very long. One day in March-ish, Annalie, Brittany, myself and Dustin went to Wal-mart. While Annalie and Brittany were shopping for their food, Dustin and I decided to go and look for Tyler in the pet section...just to be annoying. Well we never saw Tyler (we all think he quit shortly after the break-up) but we did end up buying a blue beta fish. We later named him Topher.

Topher was a good little fish who live on my desk in my dorm room, but I was almost certain that he only had about a month of life left in him mainly because I am not a good fish owner. I was mistaken. He ended up living through countless weekends of not being fed, the bitter coldness where I thought for sure he would freeze in his water, and he even survived Spring break AND Easter weekend with my roommate Carrie (We later called him Super Topher for that).

The end of the semester was approaching and there was no way I was going to take him home with me. I tried to think of different ways I could not bring him home which equals different ways I could kill him off (I know, I AM inhumane). But at this time, he is now Super Topher so he just wouldn't die. Thoughts of Finding Nemo and just flushing him down the toilet came to us, but we just couldn't do it. I told Dustin to take him home with him because he was 1/2 of Topher's owner, but "Elisabeth, I'm going on a mission blah blah blah blah blah What if he makes it through the summer, then who will take care of him? more blah blah blah blah." I then had the ingenious idea to randomly leave him by the big statue of Sharwan Smith in the Sharwan Smith center here at school with a note that said "Needs a good home". Well, move out day came and it was too late to just strand him in a crowed room. So I just ended up giving him to my RA who was getting married in June.

Fast forward September this year...
I am walking down the halls in, you guessed it, the Sharwan Smith center. Suddenly I am stopped by the old Relief Society President Catelyn Holladay telling me that she still has my fish Lindsey told her to watch while she was on her honeymoon (ooh la la?)
Well to make a long story somewhat shorter, Topher is back!!! His bowl has been upgraded and he now has a cute little seashell to play with.
And that is the story of my fish Topher, the fish who lived.

*My roommate Bree helped me figure out a way to upload pictures onto my computer without my cord...which is basically A to the MA to the ZING Be prepared for my next few posts to be very picture heavy-if you know what I mean*

90

So, sorry about the lack of blogs up to this point. I know this is the typical excuse, but I really have been way too busy. I am at school now (woot!) and it basically is the same (woot squared).

I am back in good ol' Manzinita with 4 new roommates. My actually roommate, Sam is a sweetie who plays volleyball all day everyday. She's fun. My roommates and I haven't done anything too crazy yet, although they did go and egg someone's house without me because I was being responsible and doing homework...

SUU lost their first home football game, I am hooked to The Office, I've seen Becoming Jane so many times I'm almost to the point of quoting it word for word, I cut my hair and it's short enough that I can't put it back in a ponytail without 40 bobby pins and 2 1/2 lbs of hairspray, I've been rudely awaken by a prank call, I got called as a Sunday School teacher, my apartment balcony faces the volleyball court so I can sometimes hear people playing into the wee hours of the morning, and my new favorite number is 90.

That's about all right now. Next weekend I am going to see the Goo Goo Dolls in concert here at SUU!

I will be out for the weekend (previous engagments) so I will write about all my fun this weekend and post some pictures on Monday...if you're lucky

I knew my bad attitude would come back and bite me...

I heart Edward...well sorta

Due to the suggesstion of my Auntie Cristina and my Auntie Mary, I decided to ride the new wave of Young Adult Fiction. The book is called Twilight and it wasn't too bad. I'm not fantasy's #1 fan, but this wasn't too weirdo fantasy like, so I actually enjoyed it. It kind of reminded me of an LDS romance, but I like those too so it went pretty well.

From much demand, I will now give you a quick update of my last days in Cedar City.

These are my lovely roommates minus one (from left to right: Annalie, Brittany, Carrie, moi)

This is the minus one. She hurried home the day we checked out so she could make it home in time to watch Oprah...true story.

This is Annalie and I in our bathroom. My hair is short now...a lot shorter.

These are two of my 6 crazy neighbors Kylie and Janet. The word crazy is pretty much the greatest understatment of the century.

Yes, this is my room. I took this picture just moments before I threw all of it into some boxes. I don't think my mummy was too pleased.

Because my roommates and I didn't believe in traditional dorm decor, we made a chandelier out of those little plastic cups they use at weddings and little beads. We hung the streamers up in January in honor of Brittany's birthday and left them up until May. The swag curtain in the background is the result of a late night visit to Wal-Mart.

This is the oh-so-gorgeous amazon mural in my lobby. The other girls buildings where pink and cute and all. Building C got the amazon. Building C also got a big broken window that had to be boarded up. Yeah, we rock.

This is our General Conference fort complete with our ginger ale for shots.

This is the food we conned from the people in the big houses behind Wal-mart. For the complete story, read here.

We were on the top floor in my building, so we had a great balcony with an excellent view of the parking lot. When things got slow, I threw things over the edge such as a cantaloupe head, Mountain Dew, cookies, modge-podged easter eggs, GI Jane, ect. This is leftover flour. It kind of looks like a bird.
Stay tuned: All in a days work at the MTC

Your mom goes to college

The other day I got a text from LJ inviting me to go to IKEA with her and two of our friends named Ernie and Bert It was IKEA"s college night and if you showed your student ID, then you could win cool stuff at the front door. I had never been to IKEA before and so I decided to tag along. We first went through the door and got a cool little tool kit shaped like a house (I would post a picture, but I am on my mom's computer which only shows the HTML format and I'm not computer geeky enough to figure it out-Jay Kay!)

Anyway, we also got a little white envelope with a gift card that said, "Buy one cinnamon bun at the Bistro, get 1 Free!!!" I was kind of disapointed. After a little wandering around, LJ and I left Ernie and Bert at the Bistro and went back through the front door to see if we could win another cinnamon bun. The lady totally didn't even recongize us and we got another gift card. When I opened mine, it read "$50". I started to dance. LJ opened hers and it read "$100". She danced too and then we hugged. Then we blew off our free money through frivilous shopping for cool things like knives.

I think Ernie and Bert were a little Jel-lo, so that made the trip even more exciting. But then I think they tried to get us back by making us watch "Deja Vu" later on that night.

I don't like that movie...or Napoleon Dynomite

Hey Marie eat this

This last weekend, my mother and brothers headed up to Draper to go and chill with my aunt and cousins. My brother Jake went to a government-hosted science camp to go and chill with other geeks like him. My father and I stayed and chilled in the P to the Hood. Here's what went down.
On Thursday night, we ate wendy's. It was sorta good. We watched Hok and Anya go home. (Does your dad watch So You Think You Can Dance? Mine does...he watches America's Next Top Model too...then he switches to CSI and Last Comic Standing during the comercials).
Friday night I went and saw Hairspray. (Do I recomend it? Cheya!) Then I came home and my dad and I made a 6-layered chocolate cake that was supposed to be 10 layers, but ended up wabbling after layer 6. We ate that cake on platters until midnight watching The Soup (does your dad watch that too?)

Saturday, I sent out a mad hunt for the new Harry Potter book with my friend Stankho. We ended up finding it at our first stop, K-Mart. I took it home and my dad read the last chapter and the epilouge then kept asking me if I wanted to know how it ended
So, this weekend was pretty great. Dancining, hairspray, cake, Harry Potter, mi padre, and a pretty craptacular blog.

Love Miss Elisabeth

I have the greatest job eveh! After my classes, I walk a couple of blocks North where I am greeted by a crossing guard named Dan who points a speed gun toward the passing cars. Dan helps me cross the street and says to me "How are you doing today? School going good? Well, that's good. Have a good day!" Then I walk into North Elementary where everyone under the age of 12 calls me "Miss Elisabeth". I'm not going to lie: it's pretty cute. I tutor 10 little first and second graders in reading and writing. Then, on Thursdays I go help a little big kindergarten class where I am greeted as, yeah that's right, "Hi Miss Elisabeth!!!" Everyday, they all have little funny things to say.

Like the day for example, we had a brief encounter with race.

We were reading a book called "Sally's Daisy". In the book, Sally is drawn darker. The day that I brought the book to the kids, they all had a comment to say about Sally's complexion. "Is Sally like Indian or something?" I tell them I don't know and it doesn't matter because it has nothing to do with the book. One kid said "Well she must be Mexican, she's black like a Mexican." I stopped bring that book with me. It was that very same day that little Kenneth said in great frustration "Stupid eraser! It must have been made in China! Chinese people are so cheap!" while he was trying to erase his spelling word. It was also on that very same day that little Jaylee told me how she had a bunny once but a little boy ran away with it. "Yeah, he was Mexican" said she. What do you say to stuff like that? I try really really really really really really really hard not to laugh. But really, these kids are great.

Today I went to the library. I love the library. I get a lot done...most days. Today wasn't most days. I'll let this picture be worth a thousand words.

my home teacher

Good times at the library. Good times.

I'll blog about this picture of the shoe later

When I was younger, I thought it would be pretty fantastic if I knew everything.

Now, I think I know too much.

Way too much.

Now that I know too much, I wish I could be stupid again like I was about a week ago...

Have you ever felt this way?

Happy New Year, love Jude

Sorry it's been awhile, but I am back
For Christmas I got a CAMERA!!! (This only means my posts can only get better from here)

Here's a short recap from my short break in Provo

The fam and I went to Temple Square to see the Joseph Smith movie and to see all the lights. It was cold...very cold, but it was fun.

Note: I did not take this picture, but my mutha did. My batteries ran low, so I didn't get too many pictures when I was there)

Christmas Day

This is the first picture I took. Some don't believe me when I say my dad is kind of silly. That's all I will say.
New Year's Eve Eve
Because tradition says so, I went to First Night with my friends Tristan, Lauren, Brittany, and Sam (other's were invited, but chose not to come...you know who you are).

Tristan and I
Lauren and I

Brittany and Sam

New Year's Eve

I haven't been to a family New Year's Eve party in years because tradition kept on yelling at me, so I decided to go and see what it was all about. We went to my aunt's and uncle's house and had a waffle cook-off and watched a kick-A firework show put on by my dad and uncle Jonathan.

It was cold...very cold.

I am now back in Cedar City (more on that later) It is late and I am tired, but I will end by saying that I had a great time at home and I miss everyone very much

Especially these two
