Love Miss Elisabeth
I have the greatest job eveh! After my classes, I walk a couple of blocks North where I am greeted by a crossing guard named Dan who points a speed gun toward the passing cars. Dan helps me cross the street and says to me "How are you doing today? School going good? Well, that's good. Have a good day!" Then I walk into North Elementary where everyone under the age of 12 calls me "Miss Elisabeth". I'm not going to lie: it's pretty cute. I tutor 10 little first and second graders in reading and writing. Then, on Thursdays I go help a little big kindergarten class where I am greeted as, yeah that's right, "Hi Miss Elisabeth!!!" Everyday, they all have little funny things to say.
Like the day for example, we had a brief encounter with race.
We were reading a book called "Sally's Daisy". In the book, Sally is drawn darker. The day that I brought the book to the kids, they all had a comment to say about Sally's complexion. "Is Sally like Indian or something?" I tell them I don't know and it doesn't matter because it has nothing to do with the book. One kid said "Well she must be Mexican, she's black like a Mexican." I stopped bring that book with me. It was that very same day that little Kenneth said in great frustration "Stupid eraser! It must have been made in China! Chinese people are so cheap!" while he was trying to erase his spelling word. It was also on that very same day that little Jaylee told me how she had a bunny once but a little boy ran away with it. "Yeah, he was Mexican" said she. What do you say to stuff like that? I try really really really really really really really hard not to laugh. But really, these kids are great.
Today I went to the library. I love the library. I get a lot done...most days. Today wasn't most days. I'll let this picture be worth a thousand words.

Good times at the library. Good times.

Happy New Year, love Jude

Sorry it's been awhile, but I am back
For Christmas I got a CAMERA!!! (This only means my posts can only get better from here)
Here's a short recap from my short break in Provo

Note: I did not take this picture, but my mutha did. My batteries ran low, so I didn't get too many pictures when I was there)

This is the first picture I took. Some don't believe me when I say my dad is kind of silly. That's all I will say.

Brittany and Sam
I haven't been to a family New Year's Eve party in years because tradition kept on yelling at me, so I decided to go and see what it was all about. We went to my aunt's and uncle's house and had a waffle cook-off and watched a kick-A firework show put on by my dad and uncle Jonathan.
It was cold...very cold.
I am now back in Cedar City (more on that later) It is late and I am tired, but I will end by saying that I had a great time at home and I miss everyone very much

To Whom it May Concern
Um, have you been outside lately? You should probably let it snow. I think I would be more forgiving of the weather if it was cold for a reason. Last Wednesday, I was walking up to English. It was all sunny outside. I was very happy. Then I opened the door. 20 degrees? What's up with that? Then I hear it is 10 degrees with the wind. Then that night was -1? What the heck? I knew Cedar City was windy, but this is ridiculous (this cold has even impaired my spelling). I came home and laid on top of my heater because I was afraid my ears would fall off. If you would let it snow, I would be more forgiving of this coldness.
Dear Megan Spiva,
Um, have you been outside lately? You should probably turn the heaters back on. What's up with turning on the heat full blast when it's 60 degrees outside, and then turn them down when it 10 degrees?
Dear Microwave,
Tell me, what do you want? We have done everything we could to stop you from stinking! All she wanted was some popcorn. She didn't mean to put the popcorn in for 30 min instead of 3. I mean, it's not her fault your buttons are weird. We put a lemon in water for one min like Lindsey told us too, but you made our house smell like burnt popcorn and burnt lemon. Then we tried that whole vineger and water thing, ha! Like that worked. We're all sorry that you turned yellow on the inside, but come on! The home teachers came over and you made our house smell like we were smoking crack. Thanks a lot! Now, smell better!
Dear Kat,
How's your bruise? Don't you know we all know?!?! Please stop this and just delete your myspace so no more "visitors" come over.
Dear Andy the Home Teacher,
I heart you.
Dear Britney Spears,
Just a friendly reminder: You are not Paris. That is all.

One
("Elisabeth, how come you dedicated that post to Carrie?" "What about me?" "It's okay, you don't have to give me that cookie because I'm pretty sure you saved it for Carrie anyway" "Elisabeth, I'm a little embarrassed about my picture on your blog" "You know what Elisabeth, I've just about had it up to here with you" "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah")
I have decided to dedicate each of my posts to a roommate, friend, neighbor, former lover, and occasionally to a random person I know.
Today's lucky winner (drum role please):

Wow, it's late...
Carrie reminds me of my good friend November Guest. By the way I should mention that I miss that girl. She is in Rexburg livin it up at B to the Y to the U to the Idaho which I should mention is A to the MA to the ZING. This time next year I imagine we will be attending her bridal shower (just kidding)
I registered for next semester the other night. I went to sign up for Math 1010 but it wouldn't let me because of that lame thing kids these days call the ACT. My math score was too low. I wanted to cry. I went to sign up for the remedial math class (you know, the one where you sit at a big table and they give you different shapes and different colors of M&M's and graph paper) but the stupid (sorry Shanna) computer wouldn't let me sign up. As a result, I have to take a stupid (I really am sorry) Math Placement exam on Thursday. Moral of this story: I hate math and the ACT.
Here is my schedule thus far: ENGL 2010, EDUC 2000, ESL 3400, HIST 1700, PE 1090, and either MATH 1010 or MATH 990 (we'll see on Thursday).
I am quite happy at the fact that I will be seeing my fam in a little more than a week. I miss those crazy kids. I haven't talked to my brothers in a while and since they are so dilligent in updating their blogs, it will be nice to see them.
Well, I am going to go to bed. I have accomplished a lot tonight (to be read with sarcasm). No polka tonight, but I have held a whole conversation in Spanish. It rocked. I talked about someone who didn't know what I was saying. Ha, if only he knew...
Buenas noches lectores. Voy a cama por la noche. Adios!

Dear Self,
You have too many skirts. So many that they don't really fit into the closet so well and you have even more back in Provo. When did your fetish start. How did this happen? Remember back when you were in 8th grade and you used to fight with your mother over wearing skirts to school? Remember? Now look at you! 26 skirts here at Cedar City (and about 10 more back at Provo), and you want more!?!?!? That's right, 26. So you don't believe me? Here, let me show you.
Skirt 1: Plain black, A-line skirt
Skirt 2: Plain black stretchy number from Old-Navy
Skirt 3: Black, polka dot with ruffely bottom
Skirt 4: Long black with white Hawiian like flowers
Skirt 5: Wool black and white with velvet ribbon next along the bottom
Skirt 6: Wool pink skirt with pink velvet ribbon (see skirt 5)
Skirt 7: Wool brown and turquoise
Skirt 8: Wool purple and black plaid A-Line
Skirt 9: Brown and yellow pleated with beads one top
Skirt 10: Brown, fluffy, with pink blue and white stripes
Skirt 11: Silky red flowered
Skirt 12: Long red with little white polka dots
Skirt 13: Long, tan, that is all
Skirt 14: Tan with white embroidered flowers
Skirt 15: My "La Cucaracha" skirt from Tar-get
Skirt 16: Poofy brown with orange flowers and sparkly stuff
Skirt 17: Dark red A-line
Skirt 18: Pink and white number from DI-$3!
Skirt 19: Blueish flowered one with blue trimming that hits just below my knees
Skirt 20: White and tan flowered A-line
Skirt 21: White A-line with embroidered with sequens along the bottom
Skirt 22: Short denium
Skirt 23: Turquoise J-hook with turquioise embroidery (a Hillary Duff specialty)
Skirt 24: A line flowery skirt with purple and tan flowers (aka the Marilyn Monroe skirt)
Skirt 25: The classic white fall back
Skirt 26: The pleated light pink one
So you see self? What is up with this? The next time you are at Gap and see the "skirt of your dreams", don't listen to that little green monster who whispers in the back of your head. Tell him "no". Tell him that even though that the skirt may be perfect for church the next day (and yes, you have indeed bought skirts just because you wanted something new to wear to church...stop lying to yourself) you don't need it. Remember the poor purple number back home in your closet who is so sad because you would rather wear something "new". So my dear self, remember that your skirt to pants ratio is 26:7 and due to the fact that there is only harsh weather ahead, you should probably buy some pants insead.
Also, you should probably remember to floss tonight.
Love,
You
*Stay tuned for the post about how this blogger wore a skirt each day of the week*
